Music Classes for the truly newborn! When this music school offered to give lessons to children right from birth - they did not realise how seriously some parents would take it. Tiny Sophie had been born just nine hours before she enjoyed her first lesson at Caterpillar Music.
Mum Lisa was so keen her two-year-old son Alfie did not miss his weekly music session, she travelled to his class in Carleton almost straight from the labour ward.
Raquel Harvey-Franks, who runs Caterpillar Music Blackpool, said "Sophie is most definitely the youngest member we have ever had at just nine hours old. I was nervous about the Carleton class as I knew Lisa was due to give birth any day. I had joked with the other parents about being ready to set up a table with hot towels just incase they walked in. I was amazed when they appeared with beautiful baby Sophie with them, Lisa is such a committed mum she didn't want Alfie to miss his class. It actually made me feel quite tearful to see them and just goes to show when we say lessons are suitable from birth to four, we really mean it."
Caterpillar Music is a franchise which gives an introduction to music for babies and young children. The lessons have a weekly theme and use colourful instruments and puppets to inspire children to enjoy music.
Raquel has been running classes since September 2010 and teaches in Cleveleys, Carleton, Bispham, Poulton-le-Fylde, Kirkham, Marton, St Annes and is about to open classes in Lytham. A special baby class is also available.
Lisa Beedham, from Carleton said "Alfie really enjoys his weekly classes so as I was out of hospital I didn't see why he should miss out. He has learnt a number of songs and actions since starting with Caterpillar and has really come out of his shell a lot more which is nice to see. The classes capture imagination and creativity and I'm really looking forward to being able to bring Sophie to the classes."
